110th Methven A&P Show

The 110th Methven A&P Show is back this Saturday 21 March, promising a classic country show experience and a fantastic family day out, with something for everyone.
This year’s theme, “Celebrating Our Immigrant Workforce,” recognises the people who help shape and sustain our rural communities.
Enjoy a full day of action and entertainment, including:
- Equestrian events
- Sheep shearing
- Wood Chopping (East Coast v West Coast showdown)
- Sheep Dog Trials
- Ute Muster, featuring theFord Ranger World Record Attempt (Entry via Barkers Road – Gate A)
- Top Team Competition, proudly run by the Lions
- Vintage machinery
- Art Precinct, showcasing local creativity. Visit the Art Precinctto see the committee’s fun “Self Portrait” challenge and cast your vote in the People’s Choice Award.
- Farrier demonstrations (hoof trimming and shoeing) outside the animal shed from10:00am
- Top Teams competition starts11:00am outside the pavilion, with local schools competing in teams of four
- Quality Mid Canterbury stock will be available, with auctions for: Gift Calf & Gift Lamb at 2:15pm, immediately after the Grand Parade. 37 calves and 43 lambs on offer
Gates open 7:30am. Adults $20, kids free entry! And they can enjoy:
- Freepony rides
- Face painting and balloon twisting
- Animal petting shed
- Sheep colouring competition at 12:30pm (sheep pens)
- Lolly scramble during the Grand Parade at 2:00pm
- A fun kids quiz in the free gate booklet
