Celebrate 100 years of the Mayfield A&P Show with a full day of entertainment, competitions and rural attractions this Saturday, March 14.
This special centennial show features crowd favourites including pig racing, a tractor pull, scarecrow competitions and the ever-popular piano smashing challenge. In this revived event, teams from Southern, Mt Somers and Geraldine rugby clubs will each take on a piano, smashing it into pieces small enough to fit through a toilet seat. The team with the fastest time wins the bragging rights.
Visitors can also enjoy Bayleys Fox Terrier Racing, highland dancing, Pedalmania bikes, shearing demonstrations, and much more happening across the showgrounds.
The event will also celebrate the newly restored Produce Shed, which has been awarded Royal Event Status as part of the centennial celebrations.
At the Mayfield Showgrounds and Public Domain, 9am – 5pm. Tickets on the gate - Adults just $20 and school-age children are free!! Or jump on the Hokonui Ashburton Facebook page for your chance to win.
